Lubaina Himid: Tate Shots

‘Painter and a Cultural Activist’ Lubaina Himid’s paintings and installations work at “filling in the gaps” and explore her ideas around black British representation and identity.

In this #Tateshots film of June 2018, the Turner Prize winning artist Lubaina Himid is filmed in her studio in Preston. Himid also shows us around her recent exhibition at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery and tells of how her mother’s job in costume design was an early influence on her own work.
